Timothy's Ministry, We Are Family

Come to me all of you who are weary and burdened,
and I will give you rest.
Matthew 11:28

(By Marian Alvarado)

Timothy's Ministry first began in December 2002 as God's answer to my prayer after I cried out to God on my knees the day before my son Tim's birthday (Tim passed away the year before). I remember saying, "Help me, God, if only I could have had the simple joy of baking Tim a cake, what I would have given." Click on "Stories" in the top navigation bar to read how it all began.

Tim's House Hours:
Thursday: 3:00p.m. - 7:00p.m.
Fridays: 10:00a.m. - 3:00p.m.

Purpose: A place for people struggling with homelessness to gather, pray, talk, and get support.

This has become a great networking opportunity for people looking to secure housing, medical care, I.D.'s, furniture, and emotional support regarding the day-to-day struggles of homelessness. Everyone helps each other at Tim's House and we have become a family in this place! We also offer coffee, donuts, and lunch and dessert!

Please consider volunteering one day at Tim's House!
Volunteers are always welcome! Please contact Marian: Marian@TimothysMinistry.org if you are interested in preparing lunch, helping people with job/housing searches on the computer, or simply want to visit with people and offer encouragement!

Tim's House opened its doors in January 2011 to people struggling with homelessness. Most of our original guests were referred to us from our Timothy's Ministry luncheons, but many new people have joined us since that time who have been invited by visitors of Tim's House. It is amazing to hear that many people travel 1 1/2 - 2 hours to get to Tim's House and have commented that it is wonderful to come to a place where they feel loved and welcomed! We pray together around a table and encourage one another.

Our small food pantry at Tim's House can always use the following items for our guests to take with them. If you would like to donate items, donations can always be dropped off at Tim's House (3850 North Tripp, Chicago) on Thursday (3 - 7 p.m.) or Friday (9 a.m. - 2 p.m.) or drop off in our Clothing Room on Sunday. Or contact Marian: Marian@TimothysMinistry.org

People bring their coffee and pastries to the table, and we begin to share our life experiences and also share the hope that is in God as we read a passage from The Bible! Lots of networking happens at this table and we usually have approximately 15 - 18 guests each Friday. Many people have stepped out of their homeless situations through Tim's House; and some people have found jobs and apartments!
